Virtual Private Networks
Internet-based Virtual Private Networks (IP VPN’s) provide mechanisms for security, quality of service (QOS), and confidentiality of data as it traverses the public Internet from a private network or remote user to another private network. Typically, VPN’s are implemented using special purpose customer premise equipment, better known as CPE.

However some remote-access VPN’s require more complex CPE to be installed at the customer site to serve as the endpoint for VPN tunnels.
